Home Run/Hitting Derby & Skills Competition:

If weather holds out on Friday evening or if we have enough time Saturday afternoon, we will hold the Southfork Slugfest skills competition. This will be a good opportunity for the teams to hang out & get to know each other better while participating in some friendly competition. Prizes will be awarded to the winners of each event.

The baseball skills events are as follows...
The Clearwater Valley Rams are looking forward to hosting the 4th Annual Southfork Slugfest high school baseball tournament. This “wood bat” tourney will utilize a 5-team round robin format with each team getting a 4-game guarantee.

The 2025 tourney field is set with the following teams competing: Clearwater Valley Rams (Kooskia, ID), Vision Charter Eagles (Caldwell, ID), Troy Trojans (Troy, ID), Liberty Christian Patriots (Richland, WA) & Cole Valley Christian Chargers (Meridian, ID).
UPDATED Game times/schedule:

Due to the possibility of wet weather, we will now be starting the games of the tourney on Thursday, 3/27 at 2pm. Each team will be home team for two games and visitor for two games. Home team is the first team listed on the schedule.

We will have concessions throughout the whole tourney and “Up in Smoke BBQ” will be serving food on Thursday starting at 4:30pm ($10 per meal – Pulled Pork Sandwich & with smoked mac & cheese). Please note that our concession stand as well as “Up in Smoke BBQ” can only accept
CASH so please plan accordingly.
Pitching Rules:

In accordance with the Idaho High School Activities Association the max pitch count for Varsity contests does not move from 88 pitches to 110 pitches until April 1st. Therefore, all teams (out-of-state teams as well) need to adhere to the max of 88 pitches per pitcher since the tourney is taking place in March. We are also going to limit the max number of pitches that any pitcher can throw during the tourney to 88. This way the teams playing a single game on Thursday don’t have a pitching advantage over the teams playing 2 games on Thursday.

* No pitcher may throw more than 88 pitches during the tourney. These pitches can be split up as long as the rest rules are followed according to the chart below. A pitcher will be allowed to finish a batter if they hit the maximum limit (88 pitches) during an at-bat but must exit the position after the hitter.

* A pitcher cannot throw three consecutive days no matter how many pitches they have combined to throw the previous two days.

* If a pitcher stays under 28 pitches on his first day pitching, he will be eligible to pitch the next day and use up his remaining pitches. If a pitcher stays under 49 pitches during Thursday’s games, they would not be eligible to pitch on Friday (required 1 day rest) but would be able to use their remaining pitches (39) on Saturday.

* After each game coaches will confirm their pitch counts with each other and text them to Josh Bradley at 406.250.1594.

Team & Fan Details:

Full concessions will be available featuring standard concession fare plus much more. Our concession crew does a great job and has hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, sodas, sports drinks, and a variety of other things to enjoy at the ballpark.
Please note that our concession stand can only accept CASH so plan accordingly

Good sportsmanship is expected from all coaches, players, and fans. Any coach, player or fan who harasses or verbally abuses umpires will be removed from the tourney permanently. Let them do their job and treat others how you wish to be treated.

"Around the Horn” Team Competition

Each team will have 9 position players competing & the time will start when the Pitcher starts his motion to the plate. Time will end when catcher has the ball and steps on home plate.

Each team will get 3 attempts at this competition and the best time will be used.

Each infielder will have to touch the base before they can throw. Each outfielder will have a base placed in a standard outfield spot which they will have to touch before they can throw.

A wrong throw must be thrown back to that player and player must re throw to correct spot.

A 5 second penalty will be given for each missed base.

Competing players may back each other up by retrieving a missed ball and giving it back to the player that has to throw it. The player backing it up may not throw the ball to the next base only the player that is playing that base.

Catcher to second (shortstop covers)
